Since the new FTC regulations have come out, you have seen less and less use of flogs.
If you’ve seen them before in the past, you know, a “Flog” is a fake blog. For example you may have landed on a page that looked like it was written about a local person. “Local woman finds the miracle cure for whitening her teeth just use these three products.” At the end of the article it links to three CPA offers, three different teeth whitening offers which makes the affiliate 3x’s the commission. Or you may have seen a loss weight that uses the local name, town and city.
They worked because people believed that they landed on a web page that was actually created by a local person, when in fact it’s just a made-up person and with a software program that looks at the domain name and the IP address of the person logging into the computer and list thier local town, city or town.
The problem with this is that it is all based on a lie and people were tricked into a continuity offer and they can not get the charges stopped.
So, the FTC has really, really come down on these types of web sites, and you’ve seen Google itself shake off tens of thousands of affiliates for putting such websites on thier network.
One of the strategies now used that is very effective is called a “double optin Facebook page”. A double-optin Facebook page is basically a landing page that you make on a fan page on Facebook.
The graphic on the landing page, first asks you to like that page so that you can at least make them a fan of that page. Then the graphic tells them about a free report to download. That free report goes to an opt-in page, and that opt-in page will ask for their e-mail address.
Once you have their e-mail address, it will send them on to the second page which will then allow you to download the free report on one side. On the right hand side of the page, it tells them to click on a link to learn more. The link then takes them to an offer (CPA, or other offer).
This is a nice way of getting people from, let’s say, a PPC ad to your offer without creating this awful flog. Alright, so that’s one way that seems to be working and it seems to be ethical. So, I hope that you apply this system instead of making an outlandish website that fools people into offers they do not want.
