Sounds a bit out there huh? I mean how in the word can you get “free advertising” on “the radio” right? Well actually it can happen in some areas of the country. Radio stations typically love to help their listeners out (kinda like local news stations). It shouldn’t be hard for you to give them a buzz and see if you can get on their morning show, late show, or the drive at 5 show in your local area. PR companies normally handle this for you, however, they cost money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with YOU acting as your own PR agent and locking down some radio PR for your website. You just need a story (typically how you got started) and a cause (to help people find better deals online). This strategy may be harder to utilize in large cities like New York, Chicago, LA etc but in small towns typically people will help each other out, and radio stations are willing to get you a little PR in every once in awhile. This strategy is “thinking outside the box” which is good. It’s time for you to start thinking differently so you can open up doors to opportunities that would have otherwise been closed. So today, right now, start calling local radio stations and see if you can land yourself a nice PR spot.
