One question I get asked all the time is “How do I get traffic to my affiliate offer?”. And I always answer it with “Do you have a blog?”
You see I believe that the blog is the most important thing you can add to your arsenal as an Internet marketer or affiliate marketer. Now when I talk about blogs and not talking about free blogs. Like blogs that are hosted on WordPress.com or blogger.com, no the type of blogs I’m talking about is a WordPress blog hosted on your own hosting account.
It’s very important that you have control of your hosting. Because far too often my accounts have been banned or removed from free hosting accounts because of a violation of the terms of service or for some other reason. And secondly your own hosted blog can be highly customized and modified to be to be search engine friendly and conversion friendly. You can even add monetization strategies to your blog such as banner advertising.
Another reason why you want to have a hosted blog is for back links. There’s nothing more painful than to build up a lot of back links to your website suddenly find that your website is been taken down by one the free hosting accounts.
Start your blog early and update often. One of the key to success with blogs & search engine optimization is the older your blog and more likely it is to rank higher in the search engines. You may consider buying a old domain name. The second thing that factors in, is the frequency at which you update your blog. The third thing that affects your ranking in the search engines, is the amount and quality of the back links and link back to your website.
Knowing these three factors affect the way that your blog is ranked in the search engines, helps you better optimize your website or blog so that it is in tune with what the search engines as they are ranking content. So before establishing a blog first do some keyword research decide which niche or keywords that you want to go into. Find high traffic keywords and use them in your URL and in your description files on your blog.
To install a blog on your hosting account, in most cases there is an application called fantastico in your cpanel or back office.
Inside of fantastico you’ll see a button for WordPress installation. Click on it and answer a few questions and in about 10 seconds maybe 30 seconds you’ll have a WordPress blog installed on your hosting account.
Once it is installed change the theme so is more attractive standard WordPress installation theme. Secondly you want to add a few plug-ins, I’m not going to list all the plug-ins that you should add, but i’ll list a few main ones here.
The first one I would add is called feed Word press. This plug-in aggregates RSS feeds directly on your blog. (In other words it automatically update content on your blog) Then I would add an SEO plug-in and a site map plug-in and also social media bookmark plug-in.
Under the widget in your blog and I would copy and paste twitter.com website widget.
Along with the aggregated content, add manual content few times a week. And then link to your manual posts with other social media sites such as squidoo.com, hubpage.com and ezinearticles.com.
So the basic concept is to promote many different offers and every offer that you promote make a new set back links to your website therefore ranking for many different keyword terms and getting more traffic from different keyword terms on the Internet. You will see your site gain more traffic and make more sales.
