PAD Submission Marketing

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

If you are like most marketers you have never heard of a “PAD Submission”. So what is it and how can it help you market your affiliate products?

PAD file is a standard submission format that is excepted by software download sites. Millions of software packages are downloaded everyday. Where there is traffic, there is money to be made.

I have tried to teach others how to use PAD Submission for SEO and affiliate product promotion in the past but there was just too many steps. The process was two complex and time consuming for most people to use.

Then a marketing buddy told me of Software Submitter Pro. It’s a very simple software that does some powerful things.

To give you a basic overview of the process here, let’s talk about software directories. First of all the have very high page rank and traffic. Which give your site high quality backlinks and instant traffic. Secondly, by submitting your PAD file to just a few of these sites they will compete to get the latest software on the market. In other words your software may end up on hundreds of sites.

But, the technique that is used with the software, converts an html optin page into a exe file. You then post the exe file to over 20 software directories with the submission software.

This all can be done very fast. You can produce 4 -5 files an hour and get hundreds of backlink and visitors.

You can rank for high traffic keywords in hours and start generating email leads within hours.

I would recommend adding this technique to your marketing mix - today.

Setting Your Goals Correctly

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

The other day I was reading a passage in Zig Ziglar’s book “See You at The Top”. The section about goal setting. To paraphrase, the book was telling a story about a man who came up to Mr. Ziglar after hearing him speak. The man said “You inspired me, I’m going to make a million dollars in the next 12 months” Mr. Ziglar smiled at the man, as to, not crush his dreams but he also new it was not likely to happen. The fact is, the man would have to earn $20,000 a week to meet his goal of $1 million in 12 months.

We have all done this, we have all set goals with out really creating a path to achieve them. We have all heard the saying “If your dream is big enough, the facts do not matter.” I do not know any millionaire in the world that got their on dreams alone.

What happens when you do not make a million dollars in 12 months? You feel real bad and your confidence goes way down and you become very discouraged.

Stop, the abuse. One of my mentors showed me a very easy way to set financial goals. Focus all your energy on making that first dollar. If you can figure out how to earn $1 online you can figure out how to double it. So, instead of setting your goal to make a million dollars in 12 months. Figure out how to make a dollar a week. Then a dollar a day then $2 dollars a day. And keep doubling your efforts and resources.

All the time you are learning and growing. You will gain more and more resources to double your efforts even more.

So pick one product, one marketing method and focus on it until you figure out how to make your first dollar. Then figure out how to double it.

The only way to start a fire using a magnifying glass is focus the beam of light on one spot for a long time. Use the power of focus to get your internet marketing business off the ground.

Remember: Do not go into markets that a: no one else is in & b: that have small number of people to sell to.

How to Find people to market to on the internet?

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

As an online marketer you have to learn how to find people to market to. Where are all the people? How do you reach them with your marketing message? These are both good questions and it will take me a while to answer.

To start there is only 4 ways to get your marketing message in front of people. You have to do one of the following things:

1. Go where they are

2. Get in the way

3. Interrupt them

4. Direct message

Go where they are: The biggest movement online, has been to social media like Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, YouTube, etc. 10’s of millions of people login to these networks every day. While there are a lot of people on these networks it is a little hard to reach them. You could try and make friends with as many people as possible, but that is very time consuming. The other method would be to buy ads on these networks, but typically the conversion is very low.

Get In The Way: This is the method I prefer. The idea behind the method is to figure out what people want and then get your web site in the way. In other words they will have to visit your site or see your ad before they go to the content they wanted to see.

I offen use blogs and opt-in forms to accomplish this task.

The Interrupt Method: This is the method that advertiser and consumers are use to. It’s the old fashion display ad. Online it’s banner ads and text ads.

Direct Message: Is when you communicate using a list of some kind. The direct response methods such as a email, text message , phone or mail.

To find people, you have to choose on of these 4 methods of communicating to them. Depending on your budget and your offer will determine which method you use.

Take a moment and ask yourself, where is my market and what is the best way to reach them?

Have you tried video Marketing?

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Many marketers over look the power of video marketing. There is a common misconception the that video marketing takes too long and cost to much to make. Marketers think they need to buy $4000 video cameras and $2000 editing programs to make and effective online video.

The fact is most people already have what they need installed on their computers, but more on that in a second.

Let’s talk about numbers. When you search in Google for keyword terms, how many competing results to you get? Millions - right? Well most marketers try to get their webpage to rank page one - out of millions of pages.

Look again what else is on page one? Image results, local maps, video results, news results and related links - right? Which one is most viewed by the average web surfer? Video - right?

How much effort do you think, would have to go into getting your video to rank page one of Google? Well, if you look closely you will see that most videos are made by people who have NO idea about video marketing. In fact most of the videos have less than 9 or 10 backlinks, that allow them to rank page one in the results. Do you think, you can make better videos than them? I do?

Back to how you make a video on your computer. First you will need a mic to record the audio. You will need to buy a cheap $30 headset and mic at local computer store or online retailer. Also almost every PC has MS movie maker installed and almost every Mac has Imovie. You use both video edit software in much the same way. Just use Powerpoint to create .jpg image file (note: get “open office” if you do not have powerpoint or a free online service like picnik.com). I combine pictures (G Images, istockphoto.com, clipart.com) and text to show my message.

Record your audio track inside of the video program and place your pictures on the timeline. Save the file as an .mov or .wmv and upload it youtube.com with right keywords in the title, body and tags.

There are some online video services that do a good job too. Animoto.com works very good and it’s easy to use, I would get the paid version. Also jingproject.com - Is free and allows you to capture you computer screen as you speak in the mic.

Once you have your video uploaded, link to it using blogs, social media and bookmarking sites.

It’s cake, give it try. To increase you traffic even more, repeat the process with another keyword.

Disapproved PPC Ads

Monday, January 25th, 2010

If you have advertised on “G’s” pay per click network you may have received a message such as “Disapproved Ad: Unacceptable Content” If you read through the networks Terms and Policies you will get some vague ideas of what is wrong.

Your ads can be disapproved for a number of reasons but the main factors are keywords, ad copy, landing page or click through rate.

Your Keywords need to relate to the over all campaign. Be careful not to use copyrighted names or generic keywords. Do some research and find buying keywords (long tail).

Your ads should use words that both describe the landing page and qualify the click. Again stay away from copyrighted words.

Your landing page, if you are an affiliate, should not be a direct link to an offer with an affiliate link. Instead you should create a bridge page, that adds value to the user experience.

Finally, if your click though rate falls below 1%, it’s time to start a new campaign and focus on a handful of high converting keywords.

If you do have the misfortune of having a disapproved ad it is imperative that you act quickly.  Why?  If your ad is disapproved it means that it’s not showing for potential customers!  Once you have identified and fixed the problemed ad(s), “G” will “review” the ad.  To expedite the review process contact your “G” representative via phone or by emailing them with the Client ID and the ad groups with ads pending review.  Believe me, your “G” rep will be happy to help expedite the review of your ads.  Remember, “G” is a business and doesn’t make money unless ads are approved and running.

Here Are The 7 Most Common Mistakes Made in Affiliate Marketing

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

In the last decade and a half I have seen some common mistakes
made by affiliate marketers that cause people headaches and lose
of revenue. Please consider the following pitfalls and how they effect
your business.

Pitfall #1: Choosing a Bad Product to Promote
Not all products are created equal.  For the most part, you have
accepted that there are plenty of high-quality products already on the market.

Choosing the right affiliate offer can be hard if you do not have a system.
1. Choose a market (Health, Wealth or Relationships)
2. Pick some offers in your affiliate network.
3. Check out the landing page (Is it clean? Does it make sense? Would you buy the offer?)
4. Check out your offer on offervault.com
5. Check out what type of keywords are available for your offer.

In addition to picking good products within niches, you will also want to look for good niches. Here’s a stupid tip that will illustrate my point nonetheless: don’t sell garden hoses in the winter. No one will buy. Focus on products that a lot of people want; and if their popularity just surged, now is the best time to get in the market.

Pitfall #2: Picking a Low Converter
As an affiliate marketer, your goal is to profit from the hard work others have done; and from the money they have spent on copywriters, product developers, and software. If you select a product that underutilizes these advantages, you are likely to benefit less.
Take, for instance, conversion rates. Not all product creators hire a top-notch copywriter. In fact, many of them just write their own copy.

Many also don’t hire someone to do graphics for the sales page. Instead, they try to do their own. The end result? The page looks hideous, the copy contains major errors, and the product converts poorly.
Before you start promoting any particular product, read the sales page carefully and compare it with others. Do you feel compelled to buy? Did the graphics throwyou off? Did the copy fail to reel you in for the catch? These can all amount tofatal errors for both the seller and you. You cannot help the seller at this point, but you can avoid his product and find a better one. Do yourself a favor: choose your products carefully.

Pitfall #3: Selling Snake Oil for a Snake Oil Salesman
This pitfall is especially important to avoid if you have a list. All it takes is one erroneous product promotion and you could end up with a mass exodus from your list. Again, don’t make this error.

Additionally, avoid jumping on the affiliate product bandwagon for major promotions. Instead, wait until the buzz dies down slightly; and then release a comprehensive review (something most affiliate marketers do not provide) of the product. This has a much better chance of getting sales for you; and it will also help you to maintain credibility.

Last, avoid promoting products that make outrageous and fallacious claims. As Carl Sagan once said “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” In most cases, these snake oil peddlers cannot provide you with any extraordinary evidence, but they do make the claims. Avoid promoting them and becoming associated with them.

Pitfall #4: Picking Products that Offer Meager Commissions
Would you rather have a product that paid you $1000 a sale at 1% conversion or a product that paid $100 at a 50% conversion? Well for ever 100 people who come to your web site you could make $1000 or $5000 - pick one.

If does not matter what the payout is, if the offer does not convert you still get $0. Look at the results of other affiliate marketers. See which ads are working for them and then promote those offers just a little bit better than your competition.

Pitfall #5: Failing to Collect Leads
Always, always, always capture leads. Rather than generating traffic through pay per click, search engine optimization, and other methods and then sending that traffic to your affiliate link, you should make an effort to convert them into list members first. Why? Two reasons: simple mathematical reasoning and the collective experience of many marketers.

The simple mathematical reasoning goes something like this: virtually everyone who would have purchased the product will opt in to your mailing list. And many who definitely would not have purchased the product will opt in to your mailing list. Instead of converting at a rate of around 1-3% (in affiliate sales), you will convert between 15 and 40% of visitors (to your mailing list). From there, you will get the chance to contact the willing buyers and the more reluctant. Additionally,
once they’re on a list, this is no longer a one-off effort. You get the chance to market to them again and again for months or even years.

As a marketer, one of the best tools you have available is your list. Always, always, always use your list over the one-off sale.

Pitfall #6: Ignoring the Importance of Timeliness
In business in general, the quick often outcompete those endowed with greater resources. Today, Google is no longer a small company with meager revenues, but in the past, it emerged from nowhere to outcompete massively well-endowed rivals; and it did so with cunning.

How does this apply to you? Successful affiliate product promotion requires you to do more than simply slap an affiliate link in an email and send it out to a couple thousand people. If you expect them to actually buy, your email should be newsworthy – not promotional.

If you can genuinely write your email as if it were a news announcement, you are far more likely to draw interest than if you send a link to an Internet marketing ebook that was written in 1998 and wasn’t particularly popular then.

You need to find currents events that tie into you product. Find something so  big that people follow the event and comment on it. If you can find such a product (say, the iPhone of Internet marketing products), it is critical that you engineer your own build-up and release, centered on the build-up and release of the  product. You will want to make sure that your list members purchase from you, rather than from another list owner.

Pitfall #7: Ignoring Important Numbers

Many affiliate marketers fail to make many of the small—yet important—
calculations needed in order to run a business and ensure you are in profit. For instance, many affiliate marketers will completely ignore calculating their EPC (Earnings Per Click).  Instead, they’ll simply focus sololy on the amount of their commission check.

Additionally, many will ignore conversion rates, pay per click bids, and the amount of time they put into projects. They’ll also fail to make realistic estimates of how much promotional efforts will cost; and how much of a risk they’ll be. They’ll glaze over all of these minor details and devote the majority of their time to daydreaming about the riches they will rake in.

Unfortunately, affiliate marketing doesn’t work like that. If you’re paying too much for traffic; if your conversion rates are too low; if you put too much time into projects that don’t have high yields – the outcome is bad. Your numbers won’t add up. At the end of the day, month, or year, you may end up in debt, rather than profit. And since you’re a sole proprietor, not a CEO of a corporation, It is all on your shoulders.

Please take sometime and think about these 7 pitfalls and how to avoid them. Set up systems and review points in your business to monitor your progress toward your goals.

Reducing Your PPC Cost - Increasing Your ROI

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Pay per click advertising is the fastest way to deliver quality, targeted traffic to a web page and gain lighting fast cash. However, due to the recent changes at Google, 10,000’s of AdWords accounts were banded or even closed due to risky or low quality user experience. Where advertisers may have been able to earn a low cost per click (CPC) for a term in the past, Google has now raised the challenge for all advertisers.

There are still ways to get on Googles good side and even get them to love your ads. It does require a little bit of time and effort on your part. Google will still give you traffic for pennies on the dollar but you have to play by their rules. While others are paying $5.00 a click you maybe spending just $.25 cents a click. In this post I will attempt to explain why.

If you can remember only one thing in this article, remember “User Experience”. That’s what Google wants most of all.

If you can create an environment in which you give the the user what they want and you do it in such a way they do not feel forced or tricked into buying a product then you are doing it right.

Let’s look at the sales process.
1. Person has a problem.

2. Person seeks solution to problem on the internet.

3. Person types keywords into Google (Search engine).

4. Person clicks a link they think is closest to their desired outcome.

5. Person lands on page with options

6. Person decides weather the value of the solution is worth the cost or chooses a less expensive option

7. Person buys product and ask “Does it solve my problem?”

8. If the answer is “No” person may return looking for a better solution.

Which of the above steps can you control? If you are an affiliate you may not be able to control the product or the sales page. You can not control whether someone decides to by or not.

But you know the problem and the solution. The solution is to create a bridge page, that helps the visitor decide on which solution is best for them.

I like to setup a wordpress blog with a static homepage. I usually make it very theme related and make sure you have a contact us, terms of service and other pages like that. A site map would be good as well.

On the landing page I would write some copy that addresses the problems that they maybe facing. Then in would have three graphics that showed three different offers or solutions to their problems. One would be high price, one would be low price and one in the middle.

If done with class you can create a really nice page. Remember, do not put any opt in boxes on your landing page.

Now all you have to do is setup your PPC campaign in adwords. The key to this is to find good keywords the very relevant to your page. After running your ad monitor your stats everyday and weed out keywords that are not converting to sales. (note: use tracking code for each keyword)

By avoiding direct linking and creating a quality bridge page you will make a better user experience and Google will reward you with lower click rates then you competition.

Pay Per Click Vs SEO - Immediate Results

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

The big debate - PPC vs SEO? Which one creates more earnings per click and your bottom line. Let’s take look which one brings in more earnings.

Pay per click advertising is paid text or graphical ads that can be displayed in response to a keyword search, landing on a webpage or by related content. PPC ads are generally small in size and are only displayed once on a page. The cost with PPC can be pricey depending on the keyword or webpage. PPC can bring you quick traffic but it is limited by your budget and available web space.

Search Engine Optimization is more that just ranking your own web site in the search engine. Today SEO evolves external web site and social media. SEO covers a number of media such as video, audio, documents, news and articles. With SEO you look to maximize distribution channels. SEO can bring traffic in as little as ten days but continual maintenance must be applied.

If were to invest on PPC or SEO. I would focus all my energy and resources on SEO, and here’s why. SEO has the potential for exponential growth. A single video or article or news story can capture the attention of a few and they share it with a few more. Before you know it your content has been view by millions. Can you do that with PPC? How much would a million clicks cost?

SEO in it’s many forms is king when come to marketing online.

Finding The Buyers Intent In Your Affiliate Keyword Search

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

If we look at all the available traffic on the Internet you will see that it breaks up into 70% paid search, 30% SEO and 10% social media.

Here’s the problem with paid traffic in most cases the ad is only displayed once per page - per visitor. Giving only one chance to convert a prospect into a customer. Secondly with paid search your space is usually limited not allowing you to build a proper relationship with your perspective client.

While on the other hand search marketing may have less traffic, it does contain 90% of the buyers .

With search marketing you can display your ad multiple times on the same page or even take up the entire page with your marketing message. On a Google search engine results page I’ve had up to 15 out of 30 results on the first three pages of Google. You can use the whole page to build a relationship with your prospective customers and build quality visitors to your money page.

In this lesson I’m going to give you the secrets for ranking your social media pages on the first page in Google and gain high amounts of traffic to your offers. By learning these tactics and strategies you will be able to dominate your marketplace.

Step one: Find buying keywords as soon you have an idea of what you want to sell and a profitable business model. (Affiliate marketing, drop shipping, your own product, your own service, etc.)

In every market there are keywords that are buying keywords. There are words that people use before they buy something.

Below I have included the steps I used to find buying keywords in a marketplace.

1. Take your most general keyword and then enter it into Google’s external keyword tool. After receiving the results from Google’s Keyword tool, look for words that show the searchers intent. For example, if someone is looking for car covers, I want to know what type of car covers they are looking for. Are they looking for Porsche 911 car covers or Corvette car covers or BMW car covers?

2. The next step is that I make a list of these high intent keywords and I send them back through Google’s external keyword tool. This results in even more relevant high intent keywords.

Note: There are two factors that look for search volume and competition.

Search volume shows me the number of searches for that keyword per month. The competition indicator shows me how much effort you will put into ranking for the keyword term. At minimum I looked for at least a thousand results a month in search volume and the competition indicator to be a least half but not 100% green.

Competition in your marketplace is good. But too much competition in your marketplace means you have to devote more resources and time to make progress in your marketplace.

3. Now I take my high intent keywords list and I enter it into Google’s Web search and I look at the results. At the very bottom you’ll see a list of related keyword terms. Again I add these related keyword terms to my list when they make sense and have high intent.

I also look for modifying keywords, words that can be added to the front or the back of my main keywords. These modifiers will be used later on when we do our search engine marketing.

Another step you can take during this process is to look at your paying advertisers. See what kind of text they are using in their ads and click on the links and see what their offers are? What products and services are they selling?

Doing proper market research will help you later on in this process. Try to narrow down the five burning questions that your market might be having.

4. The next stage is to determine the commercial intent of your keywords. How likely are these keywords to convert into sales. Microsoft has a commercial intent tool in their ad Lab. Just type in “commercial intent tool” into Google and find a link that takes you to the Microsoft ad Lab.

Once at Microsoft’s ad Lab commercial intent will enter each keyword into the search box. Click on quary and then click go.

It will return a percentage of commercial intent the closer you are to one- the better. Sometimes it will bring back results tell you how noncommercial this keyword is. (Still record the value because you can still use his keyword in the second stage of this process)

5. Now it’s time to prioritize the intent of the keywords. The keywords with the highest intent are the ones that we focus on first and then we take the lower intent keywords to reinforce the primary keywords.

(search volume) x (Commercial Intent %) = (Total buyers)

(total buyers) x (conversion rate of offer) x (average value per customer) = (Total Income per month)

By following a simple formula above, you can determine the value of your market before you even spend any money doing search engine marketing.

Content creation: entering the conversation of the marketplace.

Affiliate Marketing On Social Media

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

The great explorer Don Quixote left his home on a foolish quest against great

odds and proved that “One man scorned and covered with scars still strove with his last ounce of courage to reach the unreachable stars; and the world was better for this.”

As you join me, on our quest to conquer social media. On our journey we will face many foes and overcome many snares and traps. But the most valuable thing you will gain from our trip is the seven laws of social media marketing.

So here’s the seven laws of social media marketing:

1. Have The Right Mindset

2. What Do Your Friends Want?

3. Attract Friends To You.

4. Survey Your Friends.

5. Make First Contact With Your Friends.

6. Have A Conversation With Your Friends.

7. Convert Friends To Raving Fans.

So let’s take a brief look at each one of the laws listed above. As each law has many elements that when combined together create a powerful mechanism for you to generate the results you are looking for in your online marketing efforts.

So, what kind of mindset, do you have to have to be a social media marketer? Well, I’ve been an artist for most of my life. Actually when I was younger, I won a few awards, and I spent my summers going to art camps. As a teenager I earned money by spending my nights drawing on T-shirts, making Murals and painting images for sale. You see when an artists looks at a blank canvas or sculpture… they see the end result. They see the canvas complete with full color images. The sculptor see the figure in the granite before they chisels even their first chunk of granite.

The artists also uses the tools of his trade to develop his work of art into his final vision. They work and overcome faults and obstacles along the way. The artists will not give up on his vision until his vision has become reality.

So too, like the artists we must first have a vision for what we want to accomplish. And secondly to never… ever…. ever… give up until our vision becomes reality. All obstacles can be overcome in time.

Law number two: “What do your friends want?” Finding out what your friends want is the most important step. You can have the greatest, the newest, the brightest, the loudest gizmo that has ever been created for sale, but if no one wants it… it’s just a piece of junk. How do you find out what your friends want? You ask them. Then you do some research and then offer them a solution to their problem.

Law number three: “Attract friends to you.” People are attracted to like minded people… For REAL, this is how countries are made and laws are passed. It is a group of people who share a common point of view. People will be attracted to you, if you share your thoughts and lead the conversation.

Law number four: “Survey your friends” No matter what you are going to have friends who are not going to do what you ask them to do. I remember my uncle who refused to evacuate his home when a hurricane was coming his way. He survived but his house did not. But there was no convincing him that he was in danger. Your online friends are the same way. So you have to sort out the ones who are willing to come along for the ride and those who will not.

Law number five: “Make first contact with your friends”. You only have one opportunity to make a first impression. So don’t blow it. To many times people wait for people to come to them online. You need to contact them first… because it makes you the leader. With social media you have 100’s of millions of people to choose from.

Law number six: “Have A Conversation With Your Friends”. How many times have you received a marketing message you did not ask for? Have you met people online who just want you to join their program or buy their product? It’s like asking someone to merry you before you have ever met. You need to take a “Friends” first approach.

Friends help friends.

Law number seven: “Convert Friends To Raving Fans”: if you follow all the prior lessons. Converting friends to raving fans is quite easy. Just ask what your friends want, go and find it, then tell your friends where to find it. If you help your friends get what they want… they will be converted to raving fans.

Okay, well that was just a brief overview of the seven laws of social media marketing. Now I’m sure you have lots of questions, and that’s why I’ve developed my free seven day email boot camp which will take you in depth though each of these laws.

But the most important thing about this post is that I really want to make a real connection with you… my readers. Those people who have put the time and energy to read through this post definitely deserve my time and energy in return. So I need YOU to contact me either via (IM) instant message or give me a call on the phone… I’ll be glad to spend sometime with you and talk to you further about this.
